An incomplete Roman ceramic rim sherd from a wheel thrown samian ware vessel, dating to the period AD 43-260. The sherd is similar to Dragendorff 37. The sherd is a decorated bowl in form. The fabric is a soft, oxidised orange-red colour with flecks of limestone inclusions. The edges show areas of reduced brown colour. There are conchoidal lines on the concave side. The sherd weighs 9.44g. It is 41.23mm in length and 39.67mm wide. The fabric is 6.11mm thick with a diameter of 20mm.
The sherd is decorated with a glossy red slip. The decoration on the convex side is primarily decorated with the slip, although there are some U shaped draperys at the bottom of the sherd with some braiding underneath. However the surface is abraded, so all the decoration can not be seen.
