A medieval gilded and enamelled copper alloy harness pendant dating to the period c. AD 1300 - 1400. The pendant is lozenge shaped with a short rectangular stem projecting from the top point, terminating in a suspension loop set at a ninety degree angle to the body of the object. The corroded remains of an iron rivet are visible within the suspension loop. The front of the harness pendant retains traces of gilding and inlaid enamel, now red. The design appears to be in the shape of a lion rampant sinister, however, it has been obscured by corrosion product. The back of the object also retains traces of gilding, but is also covered in a layer of corrosion.
The harness pendant measures 39.98mm in length, 23.55mm maximum width, 1.32mm minimum width, is 4.15mm thick and weighs 7.96g.
