Complete lead pilgrims ampulla, broken into two pieces at the neck. The break has been caused by a central piercing that was probably done by stabbing a knife through the neck of the ampulla to release the holy water it contained. The neck is crimped together. On one side of the ampulla is a a moulded scallop shell decoration, with a moulded figure on the neck. The figure is depicted kneeling with his left knee put forward and his left arm stretching out for something. The kneeling figure is depicted upside down, i.e. his head is towards the scallop shell base. On the other side is a hatched border and two raised inner circles containing a vessel or a phial on a hatched background.

The depiction of the vessel on the base is unusual, and interestingly a similar one was found not too far away at Skendleby, Lincolnshire. This example is recorded on the Portable Antiquities Schemes'database as LIN-51B5E5. Another ampulla depicting a vessel was also found at Yaxley, Suffolk, recorded also on the database as SF-7B3C20.
