Very small medieval gilt copper alloy harness mount or perhaps belt mount, a D-sectioned bar with two integral fixings, a rectangular-sectioned rivet near one end and a pointed and bent-over spike at the other. Overall decoration comprises many transverse engraved lines. The metal is dull purplish and gilding remains only in the engraved lines. Length and width 20.3 and 3.2mm. Thickness (with and without fixings) 1.1 and 3.7mm, 12th - 13th century,
