A near complete, copper alloy, hooked strap fitting of post-medieval date 1500-1700AD. The body consists of a trianglar plate with a shallow concave to its rear. At the wider, top end, there is a shallow dip in the centre between two rounded terminals, one of which is incomplete due to abrasion. At the narrow, bottom end of the plate is a hook that curves back to the underside of the fitting, and which still holds an attachment loop. Along the centre of the plate are two piercings with the remains of iron rivets which would of held this fitting to a strap. The hook is slightly oval, maybe having stretched under load. The fitting has a green patina with extensive lighter corrossion.
The combined length of the fitting is 39mm. The plate is 31mm long by 14mm wide. The plate is 1.8mm thick, the hook 2.2 mm thick. The curve of the hook is 8mm deep.
The loop is oval in plan, circular in cross section. It measures 13mm by 11mm and the ring is 2.5mm in cross-section diameter.
The fitting weighs 4.0g.
