A cast, lead alloy, zoomorphic toy fragment in the shape of a frog, probably a 'clicker' toy. It is rectangular with rounded corners and a right-angled flange around one end, which extends for about one third of the length. The top is moulded with a frog (viewed from above). A very close parallel, LVPL-F0E3E6, was identified by Jim Halliday as part of a clicking toy. It lacks the lower, springy steel sheet. Pressing this would made the device give a clicking sound, which probably imitated the croaking sound of a frog or toad. It is post-medieval or modern in date, probably 19th early 20th Century. Some examples are marked with letters such as "C R" on either side of the frog's head. Other known examples also have these letters, but some look more like "G R". These may be a makers mark.
Another exact parallel was found at Hintlesham, Suffolk and reported to the PAS; it is find ID SF10571. An example bearing a male figure was found in Lancashire (E83DD3). See also YORYM-E7B498 and there at least four other examples known that FLOs have had offered for recording but declined since they are not 300 years old.
