Incomplete Roman copper alloy Headstud brooch with the rear part and ends of the head, hinged pin, axis bar, most of the catchplate and the foot missing. Beneath the integral chain-loop the remains of the head carry vertical grooves. The headstud consists of an annular cell of now discoloured enamel. The D-sectioned bow is decorated with a median rib between grooves. Extant length 42mm, extant width 13.2mm. 2nd century.
