A Roman ceramic sherd from a wheel thrown Samian ware vessel dating to the period c. AD43 - 260. The sherd comprises a fragment from the body of a vessel. The sherd is decorated in raised relief on the convex side, the concave side is plain. The fabric is fine and hard and pink to orange in colour. The sherd measures 50.6mm long, 23.4mm at its widest, is 6.3mm thick and weighs 7.7g.

Laing L (Pottery in Britain 4000BC to AD1900) 2003, pg 50 - 55, shows examples of this type of pot sherd and suggests it originated from Central or Southern Gaul.
