Flint core fragment of probable Late Mesolithic date (8000 - 4000 BC). The core is a grey/brown coloured piece of opaque, secondary flint and is irregular in shape, being broadly sub-conical. Flakes and blades have been removed from one face of the core by parallel striking from a single striking platform in one direction. The flat striking platform has some possible evidence of platform dressing to the edges. It is 16mm long x 17mm wide x 13mm thick and weighs 2.4g.
