An incomplete silver spoon of post-medieval date. The spoon has a sub-rectangular stem or handle that tapers slowly towards the terminal end however most of the stem is missing. The bowl is broadly oval in plan and has been hammered flat, possibly purposefully, and is dented and pitted. On the reverse of the spoon between the stem and the bowl is a long 'rat's-tail'. The 'rat's tail' connection was was superceeded c. AD 1715, so it is likely that this example dates from c. AD 1650-1715.
