A complete Medieval copper-alloy zoomorphic or anthropomorphic harness pendant (c. 1200-c. 1400).
This pendant is sub-circular in plan with convex front and a flat rear. It has a central suspension loop at the top which is turned through 90° to the plane of the pendant. The front has a raised central design which perhaps represents the forward facing head of a lion, leopard or other beast. The head could be that of a male human. The hair is depicted in a series of vertical ribs. The face is formed with a bulbous shaped snout and small pellet eyes. The head is surrounded by a circle of pellets and the raised rim has continuous zigzags.
The rear face is plain and flat. There is no indication of any surface treatment.
The pendant is brown and reddish brown with light brown corrosion products at the front.
