A copper alloy Post medieval hook-piece from a hook-and-eye type fastener dating from AD 1550 - 1700. It is a Read Class A Type 2 dress fastener. The body of the hook is an elongated oval and convex, the front being decorated with drapery or floral bands at each end. There are three integral projecting attachment loops, one at the apex and one at each side of the blunt wide hook which bends forwards. There are traces of a white metal coating. The reverse is hollow. The dress fitting is 39.4mm long, 24.3mm wide and 4.2mm thick. 7.6g.
Compare number 648 on page 172 of Read's Hooked Clasps and Eyes (2008), which describes the decoration as being trilobate bands.
