Copper alloy strap fitting. Cast D shaped loop with a collared sub-spherical apical knop and an integrally cast external rivet projecting from he straight side or bar. Both sides of the object bear prominent horizontal file marks which extend to the knop and appear to have been intended to reduce the overall thickness of the object. Suggested date: Medieval, 1270-1350.
