An incomplete copper-alloy Anglo-Saxon strap end of Thomas Class A Type 2, dating to the 9th century AD. The strap end is sub-oval in shape with convex sides, tapering to a decorative zoomorphic terminal. The terminal has a pointed but blunted snout and head with incised semi-circular notches to either side forming the eyes, the left of which is an empty hollow the right has an eye formed in the notch. Above the head is a set of large rounded ears formed of an arch over semi-circles divided by a groove. Above this, dominating the body of the strap-end is a panel of intricate angled interlace decoration with no obvious zoomorphic components. At the top of the strap end is a split attachment end with two circular rivet holes, all of which are broken save for the back left one.

The strap end is a dark grey-brown with some spares bright green patches of copper corrosion.
