An incomplete copper alloy medieval lamp hanger. It has three branching, slightly upwards curving arms, each of which terminates in an abrupt break. Originally all three would have culminated in suspension loops from which chains would have extended. In the centre of the upper face is a small semi-circular suspension loop, with a small knop in the same position on the other face. It survives in fair condition despite the damage.
Egan (1998, 131, fig.99, nos.356-7) illustrates two similar examples and suggests that these objects were used to suspend ceramic or glass lamps from the ceiling or may also have been used as censer hangers.
