An incomplete cast copper alloy mount of late early-medieval (Anglo-Scandinavian) date. The mount is in the Urnes style having interlaced beast(s) in an openwork frame. Two, or possibly three edges of the mount are complete; the openwork frame is curved however the original shape of the mount is undefined; the beasts may be quadrapeds however due to the incompleteness of the mount it is hard to define. Two areas of applied silvering survive on the surface of the mount; it is likely that originally the entire upper surface was silvered. The reverse of the frame does not offer any clues as to the original shape or function of the object; there are no fittings, rivets or rivet holes or brooch components to indicate its use. Although the function of the object is unclear the Urnes style was prevalent in England during the second half of the 11th century AD.
