An incomplete flint borer of late Bronze Age - Early Iron Age date (c. 1000 BC - 1BC).
The borer is sub-triangular in plan with three large faces and multiple striking platforms. There is extensive short scaled low angle retouch along the mesal (sides) of the main dorsal facing, with striking coming in from multiple angles. primarly from the main dorsal face on the right side and from the ventral face on the left. The point has snapped off. The primary striking platform is very flat with multiple strikings, the other striking platforms have tended only to take out a few flakes and seem to be more likely fumbled retouch. The bulbs of percussion and the conchoidal fractures are very pronounced which suggests hard hammer striking and the general crudety of the tool suggest a very late date.
The borer is a very dark grey-brown colour, with small veins of light grey on one facing. One facing almost entirely covered in white cortex.
