A fragment of a copper alloy buckle, probably a spur buckle, dating from the Medieval period, about AD 1200 - 1500, The remaining portion consists of a narrow plate of D shaped section. At one end is a small, figure of eight terminal, one loop of which is broken. Half way along the bar is a transverse collar with rounded, projecting ends, after which the plate expands towards another transverse collar containing a pin or rivet hole filled with copper alloy corrosion. The buckle frame and pin have broken away and are missing. The buckle has a rough, dark brown patina. It is 35.4mm long, 10mm wide and 1.6mm thick. It weighs1.16gm.
