Roman Copper-alloy spoon, Length 35mm, width 20mm, thickness 6mm, weight 3.85grams. The bowl of the spoon is circular in form and the remains of the handle is circular in cross-section. The handle is attached to the back of the bowl forming a tapered rib running down the back of the bowl. There is punched dotted decoration in the form of curved lines on the reverse of the bowl around the rib, which turn on themselves to form a half a 'love heart' style pattern on either side. There are further punched lines on one side of the bowl (right as viewed in photo) which appear run from the rib to the edge in a straight line? The entire surface of the spoon has been silvered, though this has worn off in places. The spoon is similar to SUR-B989E3. D Sherlock, 2000, pp.365-370.
