Cast lead or lead alloy weight of probable medieval date (1200 - 1400). The weight is sub-circular in plan and rectangular in cross section. The front face is decorated with an incised design comprising two vertically conjoined I's or horizontally conjoined H's. The reverse face has a series of small triangular shaped knife nicks or cuts present. The weight is a mid grey colour with an even but abraded patina that covers all surfaces. It has been marked and abraded in the soil; this has caused the weight to become slightly asymmetrical. Similar weights have been dated to the medieval period and it is suggested that they were used as pan weights by traders / merchants etc.

The weight measures 42.4mm in diameter and is 9.7mm thick; it weighs 108.1 grams or 3.8ozs. The weight may suggest it was used as a trade or bullion / sterling weight of c. 4oz's or ΒΌ of a pound.
