An incomplete Medieval lead alloy seal matrix, dating late 12th-13th century AD. The die is circular with traces of a loop on the reverse, which is now broken. There is also a casting seam still visible down the centre of the reverse. On the die is a five pointed star or five petalled flower. The inscription appears to read SI [R/P]OV[D/B]IN DE [---]. Due to it's condition it is difficult to determine who the owner of the seal was. The object has a light grey patina with a darker grey exposed in places.
Seals of this sort are believed to date from the late 12th and into the 13th century AD, cf. BH-D82403.
