Silver-gilt dress hook of three-lobed form with a central boss attached with a butterfly clip to the backplate. The backplate has pinked edges, and three projecting leaf-like forms in the interstices of the bosses. The front is heavily gilded. Each lobe on the front is decorated with filigree spirals and knops. At the top, a recurving hook and on the back, a rectangular bar attachment.

Dimensions: length: 2.5 cm

Discussion: A good example, in good condition, of a common type of dress hook reported through the Treasure Act. Compare 2002,0402.1 in the British Museum, which was acquired through the Treasure Act. See "Tudor silver-gilt dress hooks: a new class of Treasure Find in England" by D. Gaimster, M.Hayward, D.Mitchell, and K.Parker, Antiquaries Journal 2002, pp.163-4 for this type.

Consequently, in terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
