An almost complete Medieval copper-alloy harness pendant (c. 1175-c. 1400).
This pendant is a circular type and is sub-circular in plan. At the top a suspension loop projects rearwards slightly. The hole of the loop is thinned due to wear and now measures 4.1mm x 2.9mm internally. A design at the front is unclear and under magnification minute flecks of gilding are visible. The rear face is plain.
This harness pendant is corroded and reddish brown. A small area of brown patina can be seen near the loop at the rear.
Height: 38.8mm; width: 25.0mm; thickness: 1.7mm; thickness including loop: 4.8mm. Weight: 6.51g.
Broadly similar harness pendants have been published (Ashley 2002: 18, fig. 20).
