Incomplete and distorted Roman copper alloy Colchester brooch, with the spring, pin, most of the front-facing hook and much of the catchplate missing. The wings are plain. The flat-sectioned bow is decorated with a median groove containing a wavy line in counter-relief. Rocker-arm engraving runs the length of one face of the stump of the catchplate. Mackreth 2011, C 4.b. The bow's decoration is "late" feature, i.e. the object was probably produced after the Claudian invasion. Wingspan 20mm. Length approximately 55mm. The bow narrows from 9.5mm at the top to a pointed terminal. c.43 - 75.
