Copper alloy furniture fitting. Gary Crace kindly comments as follows: 'This is a furniture fitting for a drop handle. The pierced globular head took the end of the drop handle and the threaded shaft passed through the furniture carcase to be secured on the inside using the thread. c 18/19th.'
A cast pin with a collared ball head with a drilled aperture of diameter 4.8mm, which is carried through as a small [diameter 2mm] hole, perhaps inadvertently, and with a screw-threaded shank. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1750-1850.
