Medieval copper alloy harness pendant, 48mm long, 31mm wide and 4mm thick with a weight of 15.83grams. The object is a complete shield shaped pendant with an integral suspension loop in the centre of its flat upper edge. It is decorated with a lion rampant, left which is set in a field of blue enamel, the lower portion of which is now missing. The lion has traces of gilding on its body and is contained in a heavily gilded scalloped border, which runs to the edge of the object. The reverse is plain.
Kevin Woodward suggests that these are the arms of Sir Roger Tyrell 'Azure a lion rampant argent within a bordure engrailed Or' as depicted on the Parliamentary Roll (c1312) No 937 https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:The_Parliamentary_Roll
