A silver Medieval coin; a Scottish cut half penny of the Short Cross and Stars coinage (AD 1195 - 1249) of William I or Alexander II. The obverse is almost illegible, but a sceptre may be visible on the left, suggesting it is Phase A, B or D. The reverse legend probably reads HVE WA[LTER], making a phase B coin most likely (AD 1205 - 1230). The coin is 18.3mm long, 9.2mm wide and 0.7mm thick. 0.47g. See Spink's Coins of Scotland, Ireland and the Islands (2003), page 14, number 5029.
