A copper alloy medieval annular brooch dating between 13th and 14th century (AD 1200-1400).

The brooch is circular shape with irregular edges and a small constriction on one side for the copper alloy pin, folded around it and old damaged. The front of the brooch is decorated with six circular bosses placed at regular intervals, five of which have remains of white material which is probably an adhesive or filler for glass or gem settings, now lost. Just one of the bosses is now empty. Between the bosses are five small curved segments decorated with a series of punches. The reverse part of the object is flat and undecorated.

The brooch measures 33.95mm in external diameter, 22.48mm in internal diameter and 2.30mm in thick. The pin is 30.51mm in length. The brooch weights 8.47g.

Similar buckles are illustrated by Egan and Pritchard (1991) p. 253, no. 1323 and 1328. Other examples can be found on PAS database as WMID-152D18 and SF8041.
