Four silver coins of Edward the Confessor, which form part of the larger hoard of Edward the Confessor coins from Stockton on the Forest (Treasure number 2015 T739).

1. Cut halfpenny, Edward the Confessor, Hammer cross type, moneyer uncertain, mint of York. Struck 1059-62.

Obverse: EAD[WARD] REX. Bust right, bearded and crowned; in front, a sceptre.

Reverse: +[ ]?OR?RO ON [ ]. Short cross voided with each limb terminating in an incurved segment of a circle. In one angle, an annulet.

Moneyer: Uncertain, mint of York. North (1994) no.831. Diameter 18.7, weight 0.45g.

2. Cut halfpenny, Edward the Confessor, Pyramids type, moneyer Iocetel of York. Struck AD1065-66.

Obverse: [EADWA]RD REX. Bust right, bearded and crowned; in front, a sceptre.

Reverse: +IOCCET[ ]. Short cross voided, in three angles a pyramid springing from the inner circle and terminating with a pellet; in one angle, an annulet.

Moneyer: Iocetel of York. North (1994) no.831. Diameter 18.7, weight 0.62g.

3. Penny, Edward the Confessor, Pyramids type, moneyer Ulfcetel of York. Struck AD1065-66.

Obverse: EADWARD REX. Bust right, bearded and crowned; in front, a sceptre.

Reverse: +VLFCETL ON EOFER. Short cross voided, in three angles a pyramid springing from the inner circle and terminating with a pellet; in one angle, an annulet.
