A Post-Medieval copper alloy Irish Gunmoney halfcrown of James II/VII.

Obverse: Bust of James II/VII facing left. "IACOB [...] DEI GRA [...]"

Reverse: The legend reads "MAG BR FRA ET HIB REX". In the centre is a crown with two crossed scepters. The letters "J" and "R" flank the crown, "XXX" is above and "Scp" is below. The date on the coin is 1689

Notes:

Gunmoney was provided to troops after King James raised an army in Ireland after he was exiled after the Glorious Revolution. These coins would have been exchanged to real money if he reclaimed the throne.
