An incomplete copper-alloy post-medieval dress-hook, Read Class E, type 3. The dress hook is has a circular body with a perimeter of pellets. This encloses a solid domed boss bearing a classical-style human face.
A comparative example can be seen in Read (2008) p.92 no.321.
Read (2008, 87), mentions that all Class E clasps recovered by the Thames Mudlarks have been from secure c. AD 1500 to c. AD 1550 deposits, suggesting a 16th Century date.
