A silver gilt dress hook. The upper part is a rectangular plate with a three sided trapeziodal cross sectioned hollow box attached. The side edges of the back-plate are scalloped (five projections to each side) with tone side having been bent upwards. A rectangular perforation, located a short distance from one end of the back-plate, represents a strap or sewing attachment. At the one end of the plate is a tapering hook which projects rearwards and has a sharp point. The box is decorated with plain raised lines dividing into three equal sections. Each of these is decorated with two bosses, set one above the other, with a filigree ring surrounding each boss. Between the bosses are a pair of moulded pellets. At the hook end of the centre section is a separately attached fleur de lys projection pointing in the same direction as the hook to which is soldered. There are traces of gilding on the front surfaces.
