STRAP FITTING

A complete Medieval copper-alloy strap slide frame with internal projections (c. 1150-c. 1400).

The frame is slender and trapezoidal in plan with a sub-oval expansion at the centre of the outer edge. The frame is rectangular in cross-section. About a third of the way towards the outer edge of the frame from its base is an internal projection at either side. There is no rivet hole.

The fitting has a dark green patina.

Length: 15.4mm; width: 21.2mm; thickness: 1.7mm. Weight: 1.21g.
