A cast copper alloy rectangular two piece knee, stock or hat buckle with drilled frame for a separate spindle. The frame has rounded corners and is undecorated, it is sub circular in section. The leading edge of the frame is considerably wider than the rear edge, with a slight bevelled ridge running along it. The spindle runs lengthways across the frame and retains two pointed tongues. It would probably have also had an openwork chape, now missing. It has a greenish brown patina. C1720-1790. The length is 33mm, the width is 23mm and the weight 5.96g.
