An incomplete cast uniface circular post-medieval lead token. Powell Type 2 depicting initials, dating to c. 1550-c. 1800. The token is decorated with an initial in capitals C S, the S being retrograde. There is entwined linear decoration above the letters. The reverse is blank.
The token is 17.59 mm in diameter, 1.83 mm thick and weighs 3.8 g. It appears to have suffered minor circumferential losses at various points.
Notes:
Lead tokens with simple designs are very easy to make and continued in use for a long period; those with initials are generally thought to date to the post-medieval period (c. 1550-1800).
