A Roman Copper-Alloy Zoomorphic Mount.
This mount is in the shape of a sitting bird with both wings are resting at its side. The eyes look as if they were carved into the sides after casting and the beak is straight but slightly hooked down. There is a straight line down the center from the bottom of the neck to the tail.
There is a hole in the base of the mount that would have originally been where it would have been secured to it's vessel. A small trace of iron corrosion is visible within the hole on the base.
The left side of the neck and right wing of the bird have some scratches indented into the surface and there are some white spots on the back and right side of the neck.
