An incomplete cast copper-alloy toggle-clasp component from a sword belt, dating to the post-medieval period, c. 1500-1700. The object is plano-convex in section and sub-triangular in plan view with a circular knop at the apex of the object, underneath which are two collars which abruptly flare inwards to create the neck of the toggle. Below this, openwork decoration is visible in the form of a central circular aperture flanked by three small decorative 'wings' on each side. A second aperture is visible below the first, though this is much smaller and originally would have served the function of a rivet hole, though none of this has survived. Filing marks from the original manufacturing and finishing process are visible over the upper surface of the object. It measures 30.44mm long, 14.99mm wide at its widest point, 12.62mm wide at its midpoint and is 1.77mm thick at its midpoint. It weighs 2. 83 grammes. C.f. with Read 2008, nos. 754 and 757, p. 209, for comparable examples.
