Two conical lead alloy possible standing weights of probable Medieval to Post-Medieval date, circa (AD 1300 - 1700).

The first and larger of the two weights is conical. The sides of the weight flare to the rounded circular flat base. The diameter of the base measures 34.54 mm. Below the upper edge is a transverse circular piercing. The circular hole is larger on one side, measuring a maximum diameter of 4.06mm and on the other side it measures a maximum of 3mm in diameter. At the base there is a circular piercing measuring 5.65mm in diameter. This piercing has a deep cavity transversing into the body of the weight. The object has a well-developed cream coloured patina across all surfaces. The surfaces have been abraded, possibly in the plough soil.

The object measures 41.86 mm in height, 34.54mm in diameter and weighs 170.2 grams or 6 ozs.

The smaller weight is also conical with sides that flare to a rounded circular flat base. The weight has a small circular piercing at its base. This piercing could be due to plough damage rather than part of the design. The object has a well-developed cream coloured patina across all surfaces.

The object measures 33.84 mm in height, 18.94 mm in diameter and weighs 42.2 grams or 1.5 ozs.

There are other similar examples recorded on the database; (ESS-38B1C1) was discovered in Essex and (HESH-627C4E) in Herefordshire. Both are suggested as having a Medieval or Post Medieval date. Biggs and Withers (2000) illustrate a similar example on page 32, no. 73.
