A fragment of a probable socketed spear of Bronze Age date. Only the mid-rib section survives. This is long, narrow and tapering with a hollow interior and is circular in cross-section. Part of one face is missing and there are breaks visible around the socket end and along each side, presumably where blades would have extended originally. It is heavily corroded with only small amounts of the original surface surviving in places. The interior of the socketed is coated with bright green copper alloy corrosion.

Without further diagnostic details its precise form and date cannot be determined, but socketed spears were in use from c.1800 BC until c.900 BC.

Length: 92.89mm, width at inner end: 16.86mm, thickness at inner end: 11.82mm, width at outer end: 5.69mm, thickness at outer end: 5.68mm, weight: 32.55g
