A complete struck tertiary flint flake dating to the Prehistoric period (c. 8000-750 BC). The flake has been struck from a core of banded blue/light grey flint, with a bulbar scar and prominent bulb of percussion on the ventral surface suggesting this piece was detached via hard hammer percussion. Some post-depositional edge damage is visible on the lateral edges of the piece, and several negative flake scars are visible on the dorsal face. The platform is linear and sub-lenticular in form.
Measurements;
Maximum length down percussion axis (mm): 30.89
Maximum width: 16.55
Thickness at midpoint: 4.55
Platform length: 11.87
Weight (g): 3.37
Notes:
Individual struck flint flakes are relatively undiagnostic finds without archaeological finds, and thus a wide date range has been suggested for this piece.
