A copper-alloy pin from a Medieval disc-on-pin buckle, Redmayne (2014) Type B.
The pin has a circular plate and recessed circular centre. An incomplete pin terminal extends from one side of the buckle, and tapers to a point. From the opposite side of the disc the remains of the hook projects outwards. This projection has a 'D' shaped cross-section. The hook would originally have bent around a constriction in the buckle frame.
The surface of the disc is very worn and pitted, and no decoration is apparent.
See Redmayne, T., 2014 Disc-on-pin Buckles (FRG Datasheet 47), pp.1-6. Also see LVPL-80ED9A.
It is 12.84mm in diameter, 23.07mm long and 1.07mm thick. It weighs 1.24g.
