A copper-alloy pin from a Medieval disc-on-pin buckle, the frame and bar are missing. This pin is a Redmayne type B, with circular plate and recessed circular centre. The pin weight 2.38g, and has a diameter of 14.7mm. The central recess has a diameter of 6.3mm. The flat disc has a maximum thickness of 2.0mm. The pointed end of the pin has a maximum width of 3.4mm, thickness of 2.3mm, and tapers to a point. This end has a 'D' shaped to oval cross-section with a flatter surface on the side of the pin that has no recess. From the opposite side of the disc the remains of the hook projects outwards. This projection has a 'D' shaped cross-section, maximum width of 3.1mm and thickness of 1.9mm. The hook would originally have bent around a constriction in the buckle frame but has been pulled out and seems to possibly end in a very worn break. With the hook in a partially straightened condition the pin has a total current length of 27.9mm.
The upper surface of the disc is partially obscured from view by the presence of a thin layer of dried mud adhering to the surface, surface corrosion and wear however it seems as though the edge of the disc was probably decorated with rocker-arm zig-zag lines or some other form of short repetitive incised lines radiating around the edge of the disc.
