Copper alloy and iron hook. A cast round section weight of ovoid form with a flat top from which protrude the paired sides of a housing retaining a small flanged pulley wheel of diameter 9.4mm secured by an iron pin with an expanded head. This appears likely to be either a fitting from domestic service quarters or a shop, and the wheel presumably engaged with a taut wire passed beneath it and along which it could run. This might be apt to the hanging display of goods - perhaps game - in a shop window, to cite one possibility among many. A prominent mould line is worn smoother on the open side of the hook, which may relate to a recurrent use; overall the weight and hook are polished by wear. Suggested date: Post-Medieval to Modern, 1850-1950.

Height: 51.9mm, Diameter: 22.1mm, Weight: 41.28gms.
