Base and body sherd of a large, wheel thrown, grey ware urn. Pale grey core with a dark, burnished exterior surface. Tempered with abundant small (c.>1.0mm) rounded quartz pebbles and infrequent large lay pellets. Holme-on-Spalding Moor Ware (aka 'Throlam Ware'). 4th Century.
