An incomplete post-Medieval copper-alloy double-looped buckle (c. 1500-c. 1650).
The pin is missing.
This buckle frame is symmetrical in plan, moulded at the front and flat at the rear. Each loop is similar in size and sub-oval in plan. At each outer there is a projecting roundel or rosette. The central narrowed bar is triangular in cross-section, flat at the rear. At each end of the bar there is a small knop. Viewed from the side, each loop slants upwards from the bar to the outer edge at an angle of about 5°.
The buckle frame is corroded and generally green with traces of black lacquer at the front and rear. Iron staining can also be seen.
Length: 47.3mm; width: 28.9mm; thickness: 3.6mm. Weight: 8.32g.
