Copper alloy buckle. Cast single looped circular buckle with an integrally cast buckle plate. A spot of rust may suggest the loss of an iron pin. The loop is bevelled on its display side. Incised decoration of the plate comprises three chevrons with sunken pits at one end, possibly in vaguely anthropomorphic style. An integrally cast stud of diameter 2.2mm and length 4mm projects from the middle of the back of the plate, and may confirm a function as a spur buckle attached thereby to leathers. Suggested date: Medieval, 1250-1400.
Length: 24.2mm, Height: 13.7mm, Thickness (clear of stud): 3.1mm, Weight: 2.39gms.
