An Ovate flint handaxe of Palaeolithic date (800,000 - 40,000 BC). The Axe has convex sides and the butt-end is wider than the cutting-end. It has a pointed oval cross section. The flint is pale grey to oragne in colour with no cortext remaining. The fint has a glossy patina. There are two large depression flakes, one on either side of the handaxe, probably causedby frost shatter.
The implement has been bifacially worked, both faces appareing to have had equale work with all over with multi-directional flake removals, tending towards the edges.
The hand axe is 102.1mm long, 56.7mm wide, 20.8mm thick and weighs 121.28 grams.
