A complete and misshapen post-Medieval closed sheet silver thimble (c. 1750-c. 1900).
The upper part of the outer face of this thimble has machine-made horizontal lines of circular indentations. The lower part has inscribed decoration consisting of a row of 'slashes' or 'twigs' in two rows divided by an ornate shield. The shield is plain but may have been a space for an owner's initials. The crown has concentric rings of machine-made circular indentations. The outer face is worn.
