A silver hammered coin (sixpence) of Elizabeth I. The coin is in very poor condition and is almost wholly worn but there is also a break at 3 O'Clock on the reverse. The initial mark of this coin is unknown for certain but possibly a coronet, (1567-70 tower mint).
The reverse has been cut around the edges, but the lower half of "POSVI DEV ADIVTOREM MEV" is still readable across the perimeter with the outline of the shield of Elizabeth I visible. The date 15[]7 is on top of the shield.
The obverse has no recognisable imagery left as the bust of Elizabeth I has been completley worn. The lower half of the word "REGINA" is visible.
The diameter of the coin is 21.74mm, the thickness is 0.74mm and it weighs 1.57g.
