Fragment of a late medieval, 15th century, tin glazed earthenware bowl or dish, AD.1400-1450. This is a fragment of a dish that has been deliberately cut down so as to leave the central glazed design intact. The design is what looks like a scallop shell set within a square border. This medallion is in the centre of a cross with the voids filled by a diagonal hatching. All designs are in blue glaze on a white background. The fabric of the vessel is light pink with few visible inclusions.
Possibly a fragment of Paterna blue ceramic, a site north west of Valencia, spain.

Seen by Roy Stephenson, Museum of London, agrees with potentially Valencian Paterna, but possibly Syrian fabric.
